#OndoDecides: Postpone election by 3 weeks, ex-PDP ministers tell INEC

Former ministers of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to postpone the governorship election in Ondo by three weeks.

The ministers made the call on Monday following a meeting they held under the aegis of the PDP Ministers Forum with The National Caretaker Committee.

Some of the former ministers in attendance were a former Minister for Aviation, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode, former Minister of Special Duties, Alhaji Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, SAN.

Speaking at the end of the meeting Turaki who is the Chairman of the PDP Ministers forum condemned the outcome of the just concluded Edo State Guber election. He also and accused the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of colluding with the ruling Party in the state to rig the election in favour of the All Progressive Congress (APC) candidate, Godwin Obaseki. They called on the Election Petition Tribunal to right the wrongs in the election.

Finally, both the PDP Ministers Forum and the national leadership of our Party, reiterated the called for the postponement of the Saturday, November 26, 2016 Guber election in Ondo state by a minimum of 3 weeks to allow enough time for the Appeal and Supreme Courts to sort out all the issues pending at the courts.

They added that as a major stakeholder in the election in Ondo and as one of the major contender in the forthcoming election, it will be unfair for INEC to go ahead with the scheduled election without fielding the right Candidate for the PDP.

The Party again reiterated that the only PDP Candidate, whose primary was monitored by INEC and conduction in Ondo state inline with the Constitution and Electoral Act is Hon. Eyitayo Jegede, SAN, not Barr. Jimoh Ibrahim.
