Opinion: The glory of the cross of Christ

by Gideon Odoma

At the cross of Christ, we see justice unleashed, love on rampage, novelty on parade, & wisdom disguised. Yes, the superlatives of justice, and forgiveness, and evil, & love lock horns at the cross.

There:
EVIL — vile and bitter — is unrestrained
JUSTICE — tough and grim — is satisfied
FORGIVENESS — fearsome and freeing — is earned
LOVE — lavish and cosmic — is extreme!
HOPE is born
GLORY won!

See, it is God, armed with Justice, laced with love, making a divine statement at the cross.

It is Satan, armed with hate, deluded with pride, unwittingly submitting his rights over the children of Adam.

How far does God’s Love go? Look to the cross.
How high does His justice sit? Look to the cross.
How deep can evil run? Look to the cross.
How much does forgiveness cost? Look to the cross.

At the cross, the novelty that is God embraced the wretchedness that is humanity — warts and all — in uncompromising judgement, and with blazing, conquering love.

Victory took 3 days; but defeat, alas, is at last defeated!
The triumph of evil was condiment for brewing victory.

Jesus!
He bears the scars still, but
He is no longer dead!
Risen. He lives!
Hence, I live.
Glory!

“But God forbid that I should glory, except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world.”
(Galatians 6:14).
