About seven persons sustained serious injuries when  supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and those of the All Progressives Congress (APC) clashed in Ile-Ife, Osun State on Monday.

The APC’s Director of Publicity, Research and Strategy, Kunle Oyatomi, alleged that the PDP went on rampage against supporters of APC, who were celebrating Governor Aregbesola’s victory in the governorship election.

The violence was allegedly targeted by the perpetrators against the jubilating citizens in the area who have been celebrating the victory of governor Rauf Aregbesola and his party (APC).

“Reports reaching our secretariat in Ile Ife, say the PDP has gone on rampage against supporters of the All Progressives Congress, who were celebrating Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola’s victory in last Saturday’s governorship election,” Oyatomi said. “Apart from physical injuries inflicted on our supporters, the PDP thugs extended their violence to Gbodo where they attacked and damaged properties belonging to the father of the Executive Secretary of  Ife South Local Government, Tajuden Lawal.”

“Fortunately, we are told the police have intervened and the situation is being normalized. The victims of the attack have since been rushed to three different hospitals in the town.”
