Paralympics: Nwosu, Omolayo win 2 more gold medals for Nigeria

Team Nigeria on Monday landed their fifth and sixth gold medals at the ongoing Paralympics games in Rio.

Ndidi Nwosu on Monday afternoon landed Nigeria’s fifth gold medal of the Rio 2016 Paralympics, beating the defending champion to win women’s -73kg Powerlifting event.

Nwosu’s victory didn’t come easy as only seconds before all was set for her to take the bronze medal. However, she stepped up in her very last attempt, lifting 140kg to equal the Paralympics Record (PR) and usurp France’s Souhad Ghazouani who was set to claim gold.

In similar fashion Bose Omolayo broke her own World Record (WR) and set a new one of 138kg to win Nigeria’s sixth gold medal at the ongoing Rio 2016 Paralympic Games.
