A 44-year-old pastor of a pentecostal church, Ademola Adekunle, has been brought before an Osogbo magistrate court  for allegedly killing two soldiers 34-year-old  Mohammed Ibrahim and Salisu Ibrahim of  the  Nigerian Army Engineering Construction Regiment, Ede in Osun State while driving recklessly.

The charge sheet obtained reads in part: “that you, Adekunle, being a driver in charge of a Peugeot Space Wagon with registration number LAGOS GQ 378 AAA drove same on the highway in a manner that was dangerous to the public and caused the death of one LCPL Mohammed Ibrahim aged 34, and CPL Salisu Ibrahim aged 28 both serving officers of the Nigerian Army Engineering Construction Regiment, Ede”.

Adekunle pleaded not guilty to the one count-charge of manslaughter preferred against him and his counsel, Mr. Clement Tanimoshe prayed the court to commit him to bail contending that the deceased two soldiers were drunk while riding a motorcycle.

The defence counsel further stressed that the accused person haven pleaded not guilty is presumed innocent of the alleged offence until the contrary is reasonably proved in court.
