The South African actress has seen her nomination for the style gong from ANN7’s South African of the Year Awards taken away because she refused to have her family filmed.
Explaining what happened to her Twitter followers, she wrote: “So I was a nominee for an ANN7 #SATY award. Yes, “WAS”. I was removed bcs I refused to have my family & friends motivate 4 a video insert
“I can’t be using my friends and family to win awards. It’s degrading. “Trendsetter of the year” has nothing 2 do with fam. (sic)”
Her fans immediately tweeted back to offer their support to the star, insisting she made the right decision.
One wrote: “WHat Kinda nonsense is that,its your personal decision to not have your family on air, Like really ANN7 needs to get real (sic)”
Whist another added: “Ohh That’s being unfair.I mean your private life has nothing to do with awards (sic)”
Another insisted Pearl was a winner anyway in their eyes. She wrote: “but you are SATY whether you’re removed or not (sic)”
However, others were confused by why she had refused, with one writing: “What tell me ur kidding reali now (sic)”
