Daniel Ikebuilo, a medical doctor in charge of Ikemefune Hospital and Maternity, Ngbuike Umunachi in Anambra State, has been arrested along side six other suspects by detectives attached to the Delta State Police Command for child trafficking.

DSP Charles Muka, acting police public relations officer in the state who confirmed the arrest of the medical doctor and other suspects, told journalists on Friday in Asaba at a media briefing that the suspects were arrested on a tip-off that they were planning to steal Rosemary Chukwu’s baby as soon as it is born.

Kingsley Mordi, who alerted the police, said pregnant Chukwu was brought to Issele-Azgba town by one of the suspects, Uwandu Kelechi who deceitfully promised to help her with her condition.

It was later discovered that Kelechi was a member of a child trafficking syndicate with plans to sell the unborn baby for N70, 000 with the help of the medical doctor.

This prompted the victim to raise alarm leading to his arrest.

Both suspects are currently helping the police with their investigation.
