Police recover 2,151 animals, arms from cattle rustlers in Katsina

The Katsina State Police Command has recovered 2,151 animals from rustlers from 10 vulnerable local government areas, a report revealed.

This was disclosed in a report of the command’s activities released by the state Police Commissioner, Usman Abdullahi, on Tuesday.

The breakdown of the recovered animals and the local government where they were rescued, as indicated by the report are as follow: Funtua, 32 cows, 33 sheep; Faskari, 51 cows; Safana, 260 cows, 26 sheep, seven goats, one donkey; Batsari, 375 cows, 455 sheep, 520 goats.

Others are Danmusa, 239 cows, 41 sheep and 22 goats; Jibia, 63 cows, one camel; Kurfi, eight cows,10 sheep; Dutsinma, 40 cows, 34 sheep; Kafur, 17 Cows, 9 sheep.

According to the report, the Command also recovered assorted arms and ammunition, including two sharp axes, one cutlass, 13 arrows, one wooden toy-gun, three locally-made pistols, 20 locally-made dane guns, one Browny pistol, one Barreta pistol, one cut-to-size double barrel gun, three AK47 rifles, 85 assorted live ammunition, and 49 assorted expended empty shells.
