Policeman shoots OPC member dead in a gun fight

A member of the Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC) has been killed by a policeman attached to the Tolu Division in Ajegunle area of the state.

The clash was said to have been caused by a man and woman who were fighting over the payment of N7,000 for sexual services rendered by the woman.

Two other persons were injured during the bloody clash.

Leadership reports:

Spokesperson of the state police command, DSP Ngozi Braide who confirmed the incident, said a man had sex with a woman said to be a single mother and promised to pay her N7,000 but when the woman went to his house to collect the money, she sent him away.

She further explained that the aggrieved woman enlisted the services of the OPC members who got hold of the man and were torturing him and in the process, residents alerted the police at Tolu division, who moved in to rescue the almost dying man and took him to the hospital.

Braide said the OPC members regrouped, armed themselves with guns and other dangerous weapons and attempted to set the police station ablaze.

She said the OPC members shot at policemen and one of the cops fired directly, killing one of the OPC members in the process, adding that a civilian driver, Emeka who was standing by the police station gate at the time of the incident was also injured by the OPC members.
