Portugal cross semifinal hurdle with 2-0 win over Wales

Wales’ European adventure has come to an end as Portugal advanced to the final of the UEFA Euro 2016 with a 2-0 win over Chris Coleman‘s side.

Wales dominated the first half of the match but they lacked quality when it came to putting in the final ball.

However, a resurgent display from Cristiano Ronaldo and compatriots in the second half saw them walk out of the match as victors on Wednesday night.

Cristiano Ronaldo sent in a powerful header in the 50th minute from a well-worked corner to put Portugal in the lead .

The goal which was the 9th for the Real Madrid attacker in four editions of the tournament sees him tie with Michel Platini as the highest goalscorer in the history of the Championships.

Nani then extended Portugal’s lead when he slid home a shot to send Wales crashing out of the semifinals.

Portugal will now go on to play the winner of the Germany vs France game at the finals.
