Poverty made me this robber go stealing again after 6 yrs in jail

27-year-old Ogaga Feja, after spending six years at Ikoyi Maximum Prison, got released, proceeded to rob a motorist at Mile 2 and then got re-arrested.

In his defense, he went back into robbery due to poverty.

Currently being interrogated by operatives of Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS, at Zone 2 Command Headquarters in Onikan, Ogaga was arrested alongside Daniel Thomas and Emeka Nkem, while attempting to snatch a car.

He narrated his story saying: “I was released in May after six years in Ikoyi Prison awaiting trial over a case of armed robbery.

“I was granted bail by the court, but the case is still on.”

He said his journey to prison began in 2009 when anti-robbery policemen, attached to Ajeromi Police Station, raided a criminal hideout in the neighbourhood.

He said: “I was arrested with some notorious criminals terrorising Ajegunle at that time and the police felt I was part of the gang.

“We were taken to Area ‘B’ Command, Apapa, for interrogation and was later transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, Panti, Yaba, before being charged to court.

“When I came out of prison, there was no job and my family is poor. I needed to get some-thing doing to help myself.”
