Presidency commends Lagos govt over the release of kidnapped Igbonla students

The Presidency has commended the efforts of the Lagos State Government and other stakeholders who ensured the release of the six kidnapped Igbonla-Epe Model College students.

In a tweet, media aide to Acting President Yemi Osinbajo, Laolu Akande wrote, “congratulations to Lagos State Governor on the release of the kidnapped boys. He worked very hard with Federal agencies, Ondo, Delta governments and Nigerian Navy for the result.”

The students were kidnapped May 25, 2017, and have therefore spent 63 days with the kidnappers.

The Lagos State government has said the students would undergo medical tests to ascertain their state, before they are handed over to their parents.

The Governor of Ondo State, Rotimi Akeredolu also confirmed the release on Twitter, saying they were on the way to hand over the children to the Lagos government.

In another tweet, The Presidency wrote, “congratulations also to the parents and families of the released children.”
