How the Presidency responded to David Cameron’s corruption statement

The Federal Government has responded to the branding of Nigeria as two of the most corrupt countries in the world by British Prime Minister, David Cameron.

David Cameron, while speaking to Queen Elizabeth at Buckingham Palace in a video captured by ITV News had said, “We’ve got some leaders of some fantastically corrupt countries coming to Britain… Nigeria and Afghanistan, possibly the two most corrupt countries in the world.”

President Muhammadu Buhari is billed to deliver a keynote address at the Anti-Corruption Summit: London 2016.

Reacting to the statement, President Buhari’s Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu said: “It is certainly not reflective of the good work that the President is doing. The eyes of the world are on what is happening here.

“The Prime Minister must be looking at an old snapshot of Nigeria. Things are changing with corruption and everything else.

“That, we believe is the reason they chose him as a keynote speaker at the the pre-summit conference.”
