Buhari orders release of N5bn for victims of Boko Haram attacks

President Muhammadu Buhari has reportedly instructed the Head of Service of the Federation, Danladi Kifasi, to facilitate the immediate release of N5 billion for the victims of Boko Haram attacks.

The N5bn was pledged by the Federal Government in August 2014 for the Victims Support Fund (VSF) during a fund-raiser.

President Buhari was said to have given the directive after receiving a briefing from the VSF Presidential Committee headed by former defence minister, Theophilus Danjuma, at the Presidential Villa.

Danjuma reportedly informed Buhari that out of the N55.92 billion pledged at the fund-raising dinner for the fund in August 2014, about N33.54 billion was yet to be redeemed.

The Victims Support Fund currently stands at N23.33 billion and are situated in four bank accounts.
