Usually, it’s new drama, new drama but with the FG’s N-Power scheme, it’s mostly been new day, same drama. Especially as regards N-Power payments wrongly credited to members of the public who are not or are no longer entitled to them.
During the weekend, Professor Osinbajo shared a short story about one Daniel Joshua from Taraba.
A story of integrity.
Daniel refunded payments of N-Power stipends credited to him for the period he had already disengaged from #NPowerNG pic.twitter.com/LqF01Q1roj— Prof Yemi Osinbajo (@ProfOsinbajo) July 1, 2017
Daniel had apparently been a recipient of N-Power stipends early on this year but when he got a new job in April, found that he’s not been fully disengaged from the program and so was still receiving his NGN 30,000 monthly stipends. So he got in touch with the administrators and paid back the excesses.
The Acting President has called it a story of integrity.
The job creation scheme has spent the past few months dealing with dishonest beneficiaries who got selected for the programme and received monthly stipends during their skill acquisition stage but failed to fully disengage from the programme after securing proper employment.
Sharing stories like Daniel’s, it is safe to say that the government is desperately trying to plug the leaks in a fairly new and unstable programme.
