We thought that the denials and secrecy that shrouded Zahra’s wedding meant that it was going to be a small, private event without all the flamboyance that attends Nigerian weddings. Alas! the hashtag was posted and we knew not o fool ourselves. Kanye West and Trump had a met at the Trump towers and that was just as confusing as it was awkward to watch.

Zahra Buhari’s wedding to Ahmed Indimi had the usual fanfare of Nigerian weddings. Starting from Friday, Zahra had her wedding Fatiha and then a Kamu, followed by a very traditional Fulani wedding before this typical Nigerian wedding reception where she was photographed busting moves with her other half.
The President, Muhammadu Buhari, Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf of Liberia, John Mahama of Ghana and Ernest Bai Koroma of Guinea midweek met in Banjul with President Yahya Jammeh of The Gambia. They attempted to convince him to respect his countrymen’s wishes and give up his 22-year rule come January in favour of Adamu Barrow who was returned as the President-elect after the December 1st elections.
