Of course, by now you;ve heard, if you care about football that is. Luis Alberto Suárez Díaz, the Uruguayan footballer who plays for Premier League club Liverpool and the Uruguayan national team couldn’t take it anymore today – and he bit Chelsea’s Branislav Ivanovic.

We capture the, er, interesting moment:

And you can see the video here on Deadspin.

Not that it will matter much, it appears. According to ex-Liverpool defender, Mark Lawrenson, the 26-year-old will almost certainly get away with this – both in terms of short term discipline and even his “chance of being named Player of the Year by his peers when it is announced in London on 28 April.”

He added: “I don’t think he will win that anyway because a lot of people can’t differentiate between Suarez the player and Suarez the man.

“He’s a world-class player but he gives you world-class trouble,” Lawrenson said.  “Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech said immediately after the match that Ivanovic had not mentioned the incident in the Blues’ dressing room. I didn’t see it at the time but people have told me which is surprising,” said the Czech Republic international. Suarez always does little fouls and pushes. I saw Branislav’s reaction and he was not happy at all.”

Well, long live the teeth.
