DSS, EFCC, SGF, former Minister invited for questioning over N1 trillion rail contracts

The Federal House of Representatives adhoc Committee on the Railway Contract Scam Probe has commenced findings into the misappropriation and alleged diversion of N1 trillion worth of railway contracts.

Consequently, on Monday, the Committee invited the former Minister of Transport, Isa Bio Ibrahim, the Department of State Service, Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission and 27 contractors, for questioning.

Chairman of the Reps adhoc committee, Ehiozuwa Johnson Agbonayinma, PDP, Egor/Ikpoba Oha Federal Constituency, said the invited persons and agencies are expected to appear before the committee on Thursday.

They are expected to explain their roles in the management of funds made available by the Federal Government to revamp the railway sector.

Vanguard reports that the DSS was invited to give an account of the recommendations it made to the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation concerning how the rail contracts were poorly managed between 2010 and 2014.

Meanwhile, the SGF would be urged to explain to the committee what happened to the investigative report submitted to it by the DSS.

The former minister, Ibrahim, will be asked to give insight and also provide valid documents for the contract containing the procurement of locomotives General Electric(GE) valued at about N12.5 billion.
