Retired Army General, McCaffrey blasts Trump for “inane” behaviour

Joining the fallen soldier’s widow – Trump controversies, Retired four-star Army Gen. Barry McCaffrey is blasting President Trump for his “inane” behaviour.

McCaffrey said in an interview with The Washington Post: “We’re cruising toward a war with North Korea, and for eight days we’ve watched inane behaviour by the president, Congresswoman Wilson and the chattering class in Washington”.

It really makes me sick, to be honest. I’m sure his phone call with the widow was absolutely disastrous. He wings stuff. He doesn’t have any empathy. But I think there’s a larger issue: What are we doing here?”, he added, wondering if “the country’s losing its moorings.

Rep. Frederica Wilson (D-Fla.) ignited a firestorm of controversies last week when she revealed Trump told Jonson’s widow that he “knew what he signed up for” – an allegation Trump denied and repeatedly attacked the Florida Democrat.

But, Myeshia Johnson however on Monday confirmed the account of Wilson and said she was “hurt” by some of the comments Trump made.

Whatever Ms Wilson said was not fabricated, what she said was 100 percent correct,” Myeshia Johnson said. “Why would we fabricate something like that? … I was very angry at the tone of his voice and how he said it.”

Yet, Trump on Monday tweeted he had a “very respectful conversation” with Myeshia Johnson.

Barry Richard McCaffrey currently engages as a news commentator and business consultant. He was inducted into U.S. Army Ranger Hall of Fame at U.S. Army Infantry Center at Fort Benning in 2007. He served as an adjunct professor at U.S. Military Academy and its Bradley Professor of International Security Studies from 2001 to 2008.
