#RioOlympics2016: China wins women table tennis as Nigeria’s medal hopes slimmer

Chinese trio, X.X Li, S.W Liu, and Ning Ding on Tuesday put up a classic performance, defeating the German team 3-0, winning gold medal at the women’s team table tennis final. Japan also defeated Singapore 3-1 to clinch bronze in the same event.

The duo of Nigeria’s Efe Ajagba and sprinter, Blessing Okagbare have crashed out of the games.

Ajagba lost his quarter-final boxing bout to Kazakhstan’s Ivan Dychko by unanimous decision in the Super Heavyweight 91kg category.

Okagbare who was hoping to get a medal at this year’s Olympics failed to qualify for the women 200m final.

Okagbare, clocked 22:69secs in heat one of the semi-finals, finishing fifth behind Holland’s  Dafne Schippers, Jamaica’s Elaine Thompson,  Britain’s Dina Asher-Smith and Germany’s Lisa Mayer.

On the medals table, USA still tops with a total of 84 medals while Great Britain is second with 50 medals and China third with 51 medals; 2 golds shy of the Britons.
