Nollywood veteran, Segun Arinze said the there is an evolution going on in the industry.
Arinze, was on Sunday, September 20, a guest on Rubbin Minds on Channels Television.
He had an interesting conversation with host, Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, where they talked about several issues, from what is happening in the industry to the controversy surrounding the actors’ guild.
Arinze stated that it was unfair to compare Hollywood and Nollywood, stating that the former has been around for a century, while the latter is still a baby trying to grow and develop.
He added that passion alone, without talent cannot do much for an actor in the industry.
“All sorts of people are bound to come into the industry. At some point, they will fizzle out. learn. Passion is not enough. You also need talent,” he said.
When asked about the politics and controversy surrounding the Guild and election of President, he said he was elected the President of the Guild but fellow actor Emeka Ike had an agenda and declared himself President.
He said: “Emeka Ike did not go through any electoral process. He should stop embarrassing himself. Nobody elected Emeka Ike. He elected himself. AGN did not endorse any President. We only have individuals who did?”
