Bronx man Francisco Diego dropped his iPhone on the subway tracks at the 241st St./Wakefield station early Saturday morning. He was electrocuted after he was too impatient to let a worker retrieve it for him, and then he was hit by a train and killed, according to authorities.

Don’t go to the tracks! Don’t go to the tracks!

That’s what token booth clerk Aldeen Gordon warned a young man early Saturday morning before he went to get his dropped cellphone from the subway tracks — and was killed.

Gordon thought Francisco Diego, 22, understood the gadget wasn’t worth the risk, she told The Daily News. In fact, she thought he left the 241st St./Wakefield station in the north Bronx and went home after they spoke.

But about 45 minutes later, police officers, firefighters and paramedics arrived at the station, the very last on the 2 train line.

“Everything was calm, everything was okay, then everybody was coming in, running into the station,” she said.

Prohibited from leaving the booth, Gordon asked the station cleaner to go find out what the ruckus was all about.

Francisco Diego, known as DJ Tech Trackz, didn't heed token booth clerk Aldeen Gordon's warning to stay off the subway tracks after he dropped his cellphone early Saturday morning, Gordon says. He was electrocuted trying to retrieve the device, then was fatally hit by a train, police say.

“He came back and said, ‘It’s the same guy who was here before. He’s on the track.’ ”

Rivera, a popular deejay known as DJ Tech Trackz, descended from the platform to the tracks at about 1 a.m. as a train idled in the station, authorities said. He touched the third rail and was electrocuted. The train then ran him over, police said.

On Monday night, less than 48 hours after the tragedy, Gordon was back in her booth, working but haunted by the unnecessary loss of life.

“I’ve been watching the news all day,” she said softly and sadly. “I feel so bad about the whole thing.”

Diego wasn’t frantic when he came to the booth and said he had dropped his phone, the clerk said.

“He wasn’t upset,” she said. “He wasn’t upset at all. I explained to him the procedures. I told him I could call someone to come and retrieve his phone.”

Diego shrugged off the offer, she said.

“Forget about it,” he said, according to Gordon.

Still, she warned him against doing anything foolish.

“I said, ‘You are not going on the track,'” the clerk said. “I told him, ‘Don’t go on the track. Don’t go on the track.'”

Gordon couldn’t quite explain why she issued the warning, considering Diego never indicated his intentions. She speculated it was because so many riders are hit by trains each year. It’s never far from a transit worker’s mind. Last year, 141 people were hit.

“I don’t know where it came from,” she said of her warning. “I said, ‘Don’t go to the track. I told him….”
