Sampson Afolabi-Johnson Announces his Upcoming Film, “The Presidency” Coming to Cinemas February 21

Nigerian filmmaker Sampson Afolabi-Johnson has announced that he would be releasing his upcoming political drama film “The Presidency” on February 21, 2025 across all Nigerian cinemas.

Filled with themes like betrayal, power struggle, insecurity and greed, “The Presidency” follows the story of Jaiyeola Durodola, a Nigerian man raised abroad navigating the complexities of his homeland. He is the son of Ireti Jaiyeola, an influential political leader in the UPM party. Jaiyeola’s return to Nigeria coincides with increasing tensions among the members of the Progress Circle, setting the stage for a high-stakes journey filled with power struggles and intrigue.

Distributed by Tribe Nation Theatrical Distribution, the film stars Mallum Arik, Prince Jide Kosoko, Gideon Okeke, Antar Laniyan, Fadekemi Olumide Aluko, Yemi Blaq, Akin Lewis, Aderonke Onuoha, and Patrick Doyle.

Sampson Afolabi-Johnson, celebrated for his work in the multi-award-winning Mnet soap opera Tinsel, showcases his remarkable ability to create compelling narratives with THE PRESIDENCY. In his words, he described the movie saying, “The inspiration for The Presidency stems from a desire to see real change.”
