A 19-year-old boy, identified as Daniel (surname withheld) has been arrested by the  State Security Service (SSS) for floating  a fake employment website where he sold  fake recruitment forms for admission into the Nigerian Army, the Police, SSS and others.

Daniel, a secondary school leaver and ex-student of Ogua Grammar School, Edo State, also used the website called Tropix to upgrade WAEC certificates with intent to defraud members of the public.

Reports say:

Fake South-South police, State Security Service (SSS), Army recruitment officer who were allegedly involved in the increasing internet fraud, have been arrested.

As it were, desperate job seekers since the invention of internet, have fallen victims of these fraudsters who have practical knowledge of computer and appreciation of the internet.

While the business thrives, unsuspecting Nigerians, especially job seekers have been duped of their money and  property by these internet fraudsters.

Only last week, a young man hacked into the telephone line of the Delta State Governor, Emmanuel Uduaghan, posed as the governor through the internet and defrauded unsuspecting members of the public of millions of naira.

When the suspect was paraded by SSS officials in Asaba, he confessed to the crime and named one Osayemewre (surname withheld) his friend living close to their house in Uromi (now at large) as the person who introduced him to the business.

According to the suspect, “we operate a website with the name www.tropix/forum.com where I posed as Zonal Recruitment Coordinator for SSS, the army and the police in South-South region of the country”.

He disclosed that each form is uploaded from the website for N6,500 after payment into his bank account, adding that before his arrest, some persons had paid money into the account and he was there to collect the money when he was nabbed.
