The investigations would come amid heightening tension between President Trump and the Attorney General Jeff Sessions, with the President lashing out incessantly against Sessions in interviews, statements, and tweets in what seems to be a ploy to oust Sessions. On the other hand, Sessions does not seem to be budging at all.
On Tuesday, President Trump tweeted that the Attorney General had taken a “VERY weak position” on leaks and Hillary Clinton.
In a press conference at the Rose Garden later Tuesday; “I want the attorney general to be much tougher,” Trump said. “I want the leaks from intelligence agencies, which are leaking like rarely have they ever leaked before, at a very important level. These are intelligence agencies we cannot have that happen.”
New Communications Director, Anthony Scaramucci, has said that in order to stop the press office leaks, he is ready to “fire everybody”.
He added that he was not conducting an investigation. I’m just going to get the leaking to stop.” He stressed that he had “the authority from the president to do that.”
“You’re either going to stop leaking or you’re going to get fired,” He said.
