Security guard turns in slain LASU student, Damoche’s phone to the police (Of course, he is detained & interrogated)

A security guard at the Lagos State University was arrested recently and charged as a suspect for the murder of student and music artiste, Damilola Olaniyan (Damooche).

The Lagos State Police Command detained the man after he could not give vital explanation on how came into possession of Olaniyan’s phone who was killed by suspected cult members in front of the school gate on February 28, 2013.

According to police authorities, days after Olaniyan was murdered, the security guard conveyed the phone to Ojo Police Division claiming a student had handed it in but he was unable disclose the identity of the student that gave him the phone when police authorities asked.

The security guard is the latest suspect to be added to the growing list of alleged murderers so far, over 70 suspects have been arrested.

Spokesperson for the state police command, Ngozi Braide, said he was still going through interrogation.

“After he (Olaniyan) was killed, his phone was missing. Later on, a security guard at the school brought the phone to the police, saying it was given to him by a student. He was however unable to disclose the identity of the said student which is crucial to investigation,” she said.

Olaniyan, has been buried.
