Senegal’s President Macky Sall has lauded President Muhammadu Buhari for his role in ensuring peaceful transition of government in The Gambia.
The Senegalese leader made the commendation in a telephone conversation he had with Buhari according to a statement on Saturday by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina.
West African leaders led by Buhari had insisted on a change in government after former president Yahaya Jammeh refused to quit despite losing the election.
In a communication with the Nigerian leader, Sall said, “Thank you again for your support in The Gambia. May Almighty Allah give you greater health and energy to conduct the destiny of Nigeria.”
He described himself as Buhari’s “younger brother”.
