It was a show of shame at the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Edo  State chapter, headquarters, as two middle-aged Europe-based deportees threw caution to the wind and engaged in fisticuffs over a mother-of-three (names withheld) who is the proprietress of a restaurant within the secretariat’s premises.

One of the deportees who has been co-habiting with the woman over the years was said to have invested a substantial amount of money into the restaurant from Europe, where he lived for some time.

But trouble started when another deportee-suitor who drove a Prado Jeep into the premises, ignorant of the argument that had ensued between the lovers over a coloured television set purportedly purchased by him.

As the argument raged between the lovers over the identity of the person who bought the television set, the suitor who was in company of his friends was said have pounced on him, delivering multiple punches on to his face in full glare of customers who scampered for safety, as empty bottles flew back and forth.

The aggressor, who is said to be a regular to the restaurant, was reportedly on the run, as men of the Edo State Police Command revealed that he would be wanted for questions.

The injured lover of the mother-of-three in his statement made at the Police Station is claiming to have lost N500, 000 and a video camera.

Since the ugly incident, the restaurant which usually attracts high level journalists has reportedly become a shadow of itself.
