An Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) attached to Ebrumede Division in Warri, Delta State has been killed by a motorist at a ‘stop and search’ duty post.
The accused driver, Peter Bolorunduro Igbekele, reportedly hit the police officer with his Ford vehicle, while the deceased was on stop and search duty with three others at DSC roundabout Warri.
The spokesperson for the police in the state, DSP Celestina Kalu, confirmed the killing, while speaking to the press at the state police headquarters in Asaba.
Kalu stated that the officer was rushed to the hospital, albeit, he died before he could get there.
She said, “The officer died before getting to the hospital. The driver has been arrested and his claim that he lost control of the vehicle is being investigated”.
Kalu also warned motorists against careless driving, adding that‘anyone caught henceforth will be made to face the full wrath of the law.

Why stop and seach? I thought that raod block has been abolished by both old and new IGP?
