Bolivian Deputy Interior Minister, Rodolfo Illanes on Thursday was killed during a protest by miners.
Illanes, 55 was beaten to death during a clash between the police and protesting mine workers in the town of Panduro.
The Interior Minister, Carlos Romero said Illanes had been kidnapped by miners after attempting to initiate talks with them at a roadblock.
He also said one miner was reportedly also killed in the clashes and about 100 were already detained.
“Two miners were killed on Wednesday.
“Around 100 miners were detained after Thursday’s protests,” he said.
The miners have been protesting against a law allowing them to join trade unions.
