On Saturday night, a Lufthansa Airlines’ flight going to Frankfurt from the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos was forced to make an emergency air return after the plane developed technical problems midair, new reports say.

According to reports, the plane was two hours into the journey when  pilots detected the fault.

Media Consultant, Lufthansa Airlines, Hakeem Jimoh confirmed the report saying the air return was to ensure safety of lives and property.

“Yes, the return was for safety reasons. It (the aircraft) returned to run some checks because there was a technical problem, and in order to be sure, the plane had to come back,” he said.

“The flight came back around 11pm, so the plane flew for about one hour. The departure time was 10pm, and it was a normal Lufthansa flight from Lagos to Frankfurt, Germany.”

“The passengers were taken to the lounge and the waiting area of the airport. They were finally taken to a hotel where they spent the night for it is important to always put safety first no matter what. Of course, we regret the inconvenience, but safety must be given priority in this business,” he added

  1. I was among the passengers of this plane. The whole afterward arrangement is a total mess. Over 5 hours stranded without any information given and eventually very few passengers were given an extrremely sub-standard hotel after 4am. I believed majority of the passengers had to sleep at the airport floor without food and watrer. There is absolutely no information about next day arrangement. Passengers should consider demand Luftrhansa for compensation……

  2. if the airways transporter are handling things like this i don’t think there will be lost of in past.thanks to the present minister of aviation.
