TECHnically: Kene Udeze speaks on the nitty-gritty of ‘cloning yourself’ (LISTEN)

On the debut episode of TECHnically, Kene Udeze sums up user experience in a simple statement: ‘User Interface is a function of beauty; user experience is a function of function’.

The world is increasingly dominated by two kinds of products: Digital products, and physical products amplified by digital means, and as CcHub’s User Experience Lead, he helps companies design products that solve the problems of the end user.

It is a role he came upon on a bit by accident, having originally been a developer. He has always had an interest in design but at a hackathon at the CcHub 4 years ago, he was only one on a project full of developers who knew how to design. For the last three years, he has decided to double down on this strength.

He notes that the problem with the technology ecosystem in Nigeria is a lack of depth in terms of numbers and skills, and took the advice of Bosun Tijani to ‘clone himself’ by becoming a design advocate, creating a platform called Usable – formerly known as UX Lagos – bringing together fellow design enthusiasts and growing their ranks.

It was a very interesting conversation.
