A gang of armed robbers yesterday attacked Ifo community in Ifo local government area of Ogun State killing six people including five operatives of the Ogun State Vigilante Service.
The robbers who were said to have operated in an unmarked lorry shot five men of the Vigilante Service guarding a filling station in the area. A petrol attendant was also hit by bullets killing him instantly.
They later engaged men of the State Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) in a gun battle before they escaped.
Reports say the robbers were members of a gang which specialized in robbing banks and allied institutions.
When contacted, the Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Muyiwa Adejobi, confirmed the incident but stressed that only two persons were killed.
