The war against the Boko haram insurgency is gradually being won as the Joint Task Force yesterday took down some more members of the dreaded sect.

At least six suspected members of the group were killed by the JTF while another 11 were arrested.

A military commander yesterday, reportedly said vigilantes in northeastern Nigeria captured the 11 suspected members of the Boko Haram sect and handed them over to the army.

He added that four of the suspects died of injuries they sustained on Saturday night when they engaged members of the JTF in a gun battle.

“The youth vigilantes mobilized from Maiduguri to Michika in pursuit of six Boko Haram terrorists who fled from Bama and succeeded in arresting them along with five other terrorists hosting them,” he told AFP.

In a related development, the Commanding Officer of Special Operation Battalion, Mubi, Lt.- Col. Beyidi Martins confirmed the arrest of the 11 suspected Boko Haram insurgents in Michika, Adamawa State.

He said six of the suspects were taken to Maiduguri, while two of the remaining five brought to Mubi died while trying to resist arrest.

“Two of the remaining three also died today (Sunday) from injuries inflicted on them by the civilian JTF. One is still alive and is being interrogated,’’ Martins said.
