Justice Garba replaces Bulkachuwa on presidential election petition tribunal
The Presidential Election Petition Tribunal is now headed by Justice M. L Garba, who is the Presiding Justice of the Lagos Division of the Court of Appeal. Garba, who appeared on the five-man panel for the first time on Monday, replaces the President of the Court of Appeal, Justice Zainab Bulkachuwa.
Abia Assembly elects Orji as new speaker
The member representing the Umuahia Central State constituency in the state House of Assembly, Chinedun Orji has been elected as the 11th Speaker of the Assembly.
Orji, who is a second term lawmaker emerged unopposed on Monday during the inaugural session of the state legislature. Orji, the son of the former governor Theodore Orji, was also the majority leader of last Assembly.
JAMB releases 15, 490 UTME results
JAMB’s Head of Information, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, disclosed this in a statement on Monday in Abuja.
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board said it has released additional 15, 490 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination results it had earlier withheld on suspicion of malpractices.
FG declares Wednesday as public holiday to mark Democracy Day
The Federal Government on Monday declared Wednesday, June 12, as a public holiday, to commemorate the nation’s National Democracy Day. The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Interior, Georgina Ehuriah, made the declaration on behalf of the Federal Government in a statement signed by Mr Mohammed Manga, Director Press & Public Relations, of the ministry, on Monday in Abuja.
OANDOSEC suspends Oando’s AGM till further notice
The Securities and Exchange Commission has suspended the 2019 annual general meeting (AGM) of Oando Plc. In a statement issued on Monday, the commission cited the ex-parte order of the federal high court, Ikoyi, Lagos, as the basis for the suspension.
