They say APGA candidate, Alex Otti now pads himself with fake soldiers in Abia

Abia State Government has accused the governorship candidate of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), Alex Otti, of parading fake soldiers as his security guards.

Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Anthony Agbazuere, made the allegation on Tuesday, February 3, at a press briefing in Umuahia.

Agbazuere expressed doubt on the genuineness of the alleged men in military uniform around Otti saying he has no right to have even genuine military men attached to him.

He expressed worry that in an era where Nigeria has witnessed a great deal of lawlessness, unauthorized persons like armed robbers and even Boko Haram insurgents wear military uniforms to unleash mayhem on innocent citizens.

He further claimed that Otti might have possibly sewn military uniforms and procured arms to equip hoodlums to appear as military personnel to facilitate his dream of rigging the forthcoming elections.

According to Agbazuere, the alleged fake solders blocked the road and denied citizens passage when Otti held rally at Amaise Ahaba in Isialangwa South council recently, while the fake solders outnumbered ordinary persons who attended his rally at Ariam Usaka.

“We doubt that Alex Otti’s army belongs to the Nigerian army in view of the extant provisions of the Armed Forces Act; therefore we call on the Chief of Army Staff to intervene urgently as we cannot guarantee the patience of innocent Abians who are being harassed daily by Otti’s army,” he said.

He also called on the Independent National Electoral Commission to sanction Otti for alleged violation of electoral act.
