The Federal government announced in early September, that just like last year, this year’s Independence anniversary event would be a low key one. Apparently, the Kwara Government did not get that memo.
The state government has gone ahead to inaugurate a 22-member committee to oversee the celebration of Nigeria’s 52nd independence anniversary.
The announcement was made by the Commissioner for Sports and Youth Development, Mr. Anthony Towoju, when he inaugurated the committee in Ilorin on Monday.
The committee was charged with designing an acceptable programme and organising a hitch-free ceremony.
On her part, the Chairman of the committee, Hajia Aishat Mohammed, assured that the event her committee would put together would be a colourful one.
The committee has Alhaji Aliyu Ahmed, an Assistant Director in the ministry as the Secretary.
