Following the announcement of the new Nigerian Communication Commission directive to raise data prices, Nigerians are blaming Buhari for their current predicament.
It’s probably safe to say that almost every Nigerian has now become a wailer, and if things get worse, 2019 will be the year Nigerians show Buhari the back door- at least if these tweeps have anything to do with it.
But wait, how can NCC decide to raise prices because it figures it will cause new comers to the market to enjoy a level playing field? At which point did it occur to the people that whispered this backward idea to NCC that telcos will lose most of their customer base, because Nigeria is in a recession, and in a recession, data is a luxury. And if there’s one thing Nigerians know to do well is to cut off excess expenditure to survive.
Increasing data prices simply means you’re giving Nigerians one more thing to strike off their budget. Abi is data food?
By the way, the curses are coming down hard, the ranks of the wailers are swelling and a few are indulging in finger pointing.
