Early in the week, a certain message circulated on the WhatsApp messaging platform asking graduates interested in a call centre job with GTBank to converge at Victoria Island for an interview. It even made its way to Twitter.
Expectedly, Nigerians showed up at the venue, hoping to get an interview with a Mr. Niyi. Turns out the whole thing was not legit. Natasha, who tweets @madamTHEmadam, captured it.
This is what she had to say.
See people in suit and tie for GTB interview, like you guys couldn't tell its a scam?

I know we are all hustling and trying to get it but don't let that cloud the way you view things. Be objective and smart

It’s the age of social media, where every sort of advertisement is displayed online, so it is not exactly surprising that Whatsapp was the medium of choice used to circulate said job opportunity. However, in cases like this, where direct links to the bank’s website are not included, it’s safe to always cross check the information. It would have been advisable to check with GTB’s Twitter account whether this information, was indeed accurate before proceeding on the journey.
