Last week’s hot topic was the controversial bill passed by honorable members of the Senate criminalising same-sex marriage in the country and proposing a 14-year jail term for folks caught indulging.
We are not trying to beat a dead horse but all this talk about same-sex unions reminds us of the film that opened a whole new chapter in the sex wars.
Our throwback hit this week is the 2005 Academy Award winning film, ‘Brokeback Mountain’, the tragic story of two cowboys who fall in love one fine summer and the long-term effects of their forbidden relationship.
Director, Ang Lee might have emerged with the trophy that year but his actors soon had their own taste of Oscar glory. Heath Ledger would go on to win a posthumous Oscar for his work in 2008’s ‘Dark Knight’, Anne Hathaway co-hosted last year’s awards ceremony and Michelle Williams has been tipped off to get nominated as Best Actress this season for her sizzling portrayal of the legendary Marilyn Monroe in ‘’My week with Marilyn.’’
