As crowds gathered to watch the rescue, firefighters tried all manner of ways to carefully slide the distressed youngster out from the gap.

The drama unfolded on Sunday outside a building in Hezhang County.

Eventually, crews had to use hydraulic pliers to crack the balcony and widen the gap, it was reported by ITV News.
