The Socio-Economic Rights Accountability Project (SERAP) has demanded that the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) provide an account and explanation of the ₦100 billion dirty and bad notes in a new lawsuit.

According to SERAP, the CBN had condemned some currency notes, identifying them as “dirty, bad and awaiting examination” in their branches nationwide.

Since the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) has denounced the #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria protest, it has issued a warning to those promoting the protest, warning that they leave Lagos State out of their schemes.

The Chairperson of the Lagos State Council of the NLC, Mrs Funmi Sessi, has asked that the protest organisers stay away from Lagos and instead go to their respective states to stage their protests.

“Peaceful protest is part of the rights of all citizens, but protest characterised by threats, bloodshed and destruction of properties and lives of innocent citizens is unacceptable,” she said.

The Vice-chancellor of Babcock University, Prof Ademola Tayo, lamented about the hiked electricity tariff and its effect on the school’s finances and possible threat to the quality of education.

The VC spoke out at the 22nd undergraduate and 13th postgraduate convocation, saying the varsity had no choice but to pay ₦300 million in May for electricity bills.

He further called on the federal government, charging them to work on reducing the tariff for Band A users, as paying ₦300M in May was unthinkable as the university needed electricity to function and deliver its services properly to its students.

Peter Obi supports nationwide protest as Nigerians use their voice for change

The 2023 Presidential candidate and philanthropist Peter Obi has shown his support for those interested in executing a nationwide protest against hunger and suffering.

The protest is because the people have suffered for too long, and the economic hardship has driven them to the proverbial wall, leaving them with no choice but to protest against the government.

“Within the Nigerian constitution, protest is allowed. All I plead for is for those protesting to do so within the law and in a civil manner that allows us as a nation to show that we live within the law. Everybody knows that things are difficult,” Peter Obi said.

Kamala Harris raises $200M in a week as Trump calls her “evil”

Kamala Harris

Since President of the United States Joe Biden endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris as the 2024 Presidential candidate, she has garnered support from Americans as they all donated over $200 million to her campaign in a week.

Kamala Harris is a member of the Democratic Party, and her campaign for the presidential seat marks a huge turning point for the USA as she will be the first female president and first Asian-African president in the country.

Donald Trump, the opponent of Kamala Harris and ex-president of the USA, along with his running mate, JD Vance, attacked Kamala Harris on their trip to Minnesota, where Trump described Kamala as “evil”, “unhinged” and “sick”, saying that the American dream would die if she became president.
