The latest excuse – Two-metre-long snake puts parts of Benin in darkness

by Azubuike Azikiwe

According to the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), the recent power supply disruption experienced in some parts of Benin City and environs was as a result of a two meter snake, which was trapped in a transformer T23 at the Benin switch yard.

The trapped reptile put three feeders, Nekpennekpen, Ikpoba Dam and Akoko, out of power supply.

A press statement signed by TCN Public Affairs Manager, Elder Rufus Imafidon stated that the snake fhad been removed from the transformer.

He also added that regular power supply had been restored to the affected areas, while expressing regrets over inconveniences caused by the power interruption.

The statement also disclosed that the inauguration of three 33KV feeders at Ajaokuta 132/33KV transmission sub-station has helped to improve power supply to all parts of Kogi State.
