Trump expresses concern for Puerto Ricans amidst allegations of neglect

In a swift turn of events, U.S. President Donald Trump has stated his empathy and support for Puerto Ricans following the damage that plagued the island as a result of the category 5 Hurricane Maria that tore the US territory weeks ago.

Amidst lingering suffering and complaints from the island residents, President Trump on Thursday said FEMA and other officials involved in the relief operations will not stay there forever – a statement which has received huge criticism, accusing Trump of showing no shred of concern for the hurricane victims, and therefore isolated them.

Trump, on Friday, however, reassured the victims of his unalloyed support, though, he stated categorically that the island had been plunged into economic crisis before the hurricane.

“The wonderful people of Puerto Rico, with their unmatched spirit, know how bad things were before the H’s. I will always be with them!”, Trump tweeted.
