After receiving a briefing on the situation in Puerto Rico, followed by his personal visit to view the level of damage, President Trump upon his return to Washington is taking concerted efforts to salvage the devastation.
The US President plans to ask Congress for $29 bn in emergency relief for Puerto Rico in the wake of the Atlantic Hurricane which as recorded 34 deaths and several damages.
According to officials Trump is expected to request $12.77 billion in disaster relief and $16 billion in debt forgiveness.
Puerto Rico is grossly enmeshed in a huge debt amounting to about $47 billion, which has inflicted the island with a crippled economy, reduced job opportunities and made the relief operations an herculean task.
