How did you get on Twitter?
Sometime in 2007, I began to see “Twitter” on the internet. As usual, I checked it out and didn’t see any reason why I should just be updating my status…just like that? Shebi Facebook already had that? Then in December of 2008, the Israel-Gaza way started. That got me watching CNN a lot. Rick Sanchez, who was still in CNN then was reporting on the issue. And in the end, he asked us to follow him on Twitter for updates on the event…oh, this Twitter again??!! So I can get news on the fly from there? Gbam!! That was how I joined Twitter.
Who would you say is your favourite tweep?
For the sake of my skin, I will not answer this question J
Is there any particular tweet you’ll never forget? Tell us about it.
I have posted plenty tweets enough to write a book, but the tweet that got @exschoolnerd very angry with me in January 2010 takes the chinchin. I will not repeat it here, for the sake of peace J
Have you had any embarrassing/memorable experience on Twitter? If yes, what happened?
I have not had an embarrassing moment. No embarrassing DM has leaked yet J
What are the downsides of being on Twitter?
If you know how to manage it well, there is no downside to it. The key phrase is ‘manage it well’.
What are the upsides?
The upsides are many, also depending on how well you manage it. I have gotten business via Twitter. I have made very valuable connects, I have met very awesome people, and I am (almost) always up to date on news and information, and I don’t even have to get on TV or radio.
Has Twitter gotten you more fans/friends?
I don’t know about fans sha, I am not Don Jazzy. Friends? Yeah, I have made quite a number, and they come from all over the world.
Many tweeps say you have a controversial persona on Twitter. Is this true?
It depends on who is analyzing it, and which of my personas is on the hot seat. My Twitter ID is plenty things and characters rolled into one. One moment I am acting mean, the next moment I am genuinely concerned, and a second after that I am acting the clown, and almost immediately I am in a debate about issues concerning politics, sports, lifestyle, etc. I want to think that is a bit confusing for some people, they can’t pin me to one attitude. I would agree that is a bit controversial.
Describe your Twitter persona in three words.
Words aren’t enough.
Do you follow back readily? Why?
Yeah I do. I don’t have to pay to follow anyone back, either their tweets are funny or not, either they talk sense or not. If someone has gone out of their way to ask me to follow them, they probably see me as good enough to do that. I appreciate it and follow back. I don’t really care about who I follow. It is the people who follow me that I am more concerned about – they are the ones who see what I tweet….I don’t want my tweets ‘falling in the wrong eyes’.
What would possibly make you close your Twitter account?
This Twitter ID is my second coming on Twitter. I closed the first one for personal reasons. I don’t think it will happen again. The worst that could happen is that I will log out and never log back in.
