Katung first hit social consciousness when he emerged as the winner of the first and only Big Brother Nigeria. He picked up a fat cheque of $100,000, becoming an instant celebrity and social figure.

After all that fame, Katung slipped out of view for a while to attend New York Film Academy and is now a film and music video producer, with the popular Ice Prince ‘superstar’ video as one in his growing portfolio.

The Chocolate City co-owner is our next YNaija Twitter Personality and talks about his experience on the social network.

How did you get on Twitter?
I saw a news piece about its rapid growth and how it was the new revolution after Facebook, so I jumped on the wagon.

Who would you say is your favourite tweep?
My favourite tweeps are: @Ebuka, because he knows what’s up, especially with current affairs and he’s witty, @iceprincezamani – his humility and the genuine love and appreciation for his fans & @kanyewest because he follows nobody.

Is there any particular tweet you’ll never forget? Tell us about it.
No, I’m not sure there is one that sticks out above any other. There are just so much that have struck me

Have you had any embarrassing/memorable experience on Twitter? If yes, what happened?
Yeah. I misspelt some thing and a #Gbagaun followed.

What are the downsides of being on Twitter?
I don’t really see downsides except if you are really conscious of what people think about you. Hence, you watch what you put out.

What are the upsides?

The upsides have to do with when you say stuff that affects people positively and you get their responses and they even follow you afterwards.

Has Twitter gotten you more fans/friends?
It has gotten me fans, friends and even critics.

Many tweeps say you have a controversial persona on Twitter. Is this true?
Well, it depends on what context of controversy we talking about. I just say what’s on my mind like every other person, but I try as much as possible to be honest and truth they say is bitter. So maybe that’s what the controversy is about – not being afraid to say it the way it is.

Do you follow back readily? Why?
I follow back when I see interesting stuff, not just to beef up statistics.

What would possibly make you close your Twitter account?

I don’t know what will make me close my account just yet, but I’ll have a ready answer if I ever close it.
