One Youth, One Voice – Celebrate the 11th annual International Youth Day!

Today is the International Youth Day, a day mapped out by the international community to celebrate the youth of the world, the hope and future of our planet. Here are some facts about IYD!

On 17, December 1999, the United Nations General Assembly endorsed the recommendation made by the World Conference of Ministers responsible for the youth that 12th August be declared international youth day.

The first International Youth Day was 12, August 2000.

“Change Our World” has been chosen as the theme for this year’s celebrations as it reflects the notion of a global community, which is a core principle of the United Nations”.

International Youth Gay is the world’s first global holiday.

This year’s activities will mark the culmination of the International Year of the Youth – comprising the 12-month period between International Youth Day 2010 and 2011.

The official slogan for the International Year of the Youth is “Our Year, Our Voice”

This year marks the 25th anniversary of the first International Year of the Youth.
