The event also aims to showcase the findings from Unveiling Africa’s (UVA) online youth leadership programme – 7 Days of Change (starting August 9-15) – designed to engage young Nigerians (13-25) online in their indigenous history and politics, while providing a platform for them to take action on other social issues. For example, on the 9th of August, young Nigerians will be engaging their parents and grandparents on the history of their families and ethnic group. Participants will upload their findings on UVA’s academy website and share their learning on social media. According to the CEO of Unveiling Africa – Chizoba Imoka, without a strong sense of identity, knowledge of history and positive valuation of our rich culture, the next generation of Nigerians will be ill equipped to provide the much needed transformative and culturally responsive leadership. We believe that the outcome of this program will enable policy makers as well as ordinary citizens become aware of the need for inclusive education and the importance of including history and our rich indigenous culture in the curriculum.

Speakers at the summit include: Dr.Modupe Adefeso-Olateju, MD, TEP Center, Adebola Williams, Managing Partner – Red Media, Mrs.Ojea – Director of Curriculum Services, Ministry of Education, Mr.Asaa, Director – State Universal Basic Education Board, Ms. Lara Oriye, Falana&Falana Chambers, Mrs.Folasade Adefisayo, MD – Leading Learning Ltd and OkechukwuOfili, Ofili Speaks, Ms. Amanda Kirby Okolie amongst others.

Put together, this summit will provide a platform for participants to share knowledge/ experiences, discuss best practices, and advocate for inclusive education at the policy level. Immediately after the summit, UVA’s lifestyle market called “Owambe” which will kick off. With at least 150 participants in attendance and the presence of media houses such as Ynaija, Radio Nigeria, Guardian, Punch amongst others, the event provides a perfect networking and advertising platform for new and emerging brands.
