US Congressman who punched reporter gets 40 hour community service sentence

On Monday, U.S Congressman-elect Greg Gianforte was sentenced to 40 hours of community service and 20 hours of anger management with a $385 fine after he pled guilty to assault charge of him punching a reporter in the face.

The Republican apologized to Guardian reporter Ben Jacobs after he won the special elections in front of cheering supporters for the incident and took responsibility for his actions, “I should not have responded the way I did, and for that, I’m sorry I should not have treated that reporter that way”, he said.

  1. If na naija, the Congress man, will bring 80 SAN lawyers to, invoke this & that law, his constituency wil hire a bus load of sympathizers in aso-ebi to mob the court. The SAN lawyers will ask for various injunctions – all in the name of evading justice. This is Nigeria for u.
